MY BRIEF AUTOBIOGRAPHY
.I was born in Decatur, Georgia. I am a true Georgia girl! My mother, Jacqueline, was a doctor of physical therapy and my father, Delloyd, was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. I have two older brothers, Eric and Theodore, and one older sister, Shontel. Eric is a pilot and is married to Dyonne. (I hooked them up!) Together, they have one girl, Eden, and one boy, Eric Jr. Theodore is a supervisor for MARTA. He has two precious girls, Nya and Ari. Shontel is a speech pathologist and has one son, Austin.
I graduated tenth in my class from Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta. I then graduated summa cum laude from Spelman College. I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
I am married to a loving husband who allows me to ramble about being a teacher. (Smile) My husband Larry and I were married April 7,2012. We welcomed our beautiful daughter on February 18, 2017.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that learning goes beyond instruction of the fundamentals of something. It involves a deep comprehension of a subject. Teaching is an art. The goal of teaching is to successfully prepare those being taught for real life experiences. The goal of teaching can only be measured by how many times those who were taught benefited from the teaching in application to their real life and how well they contributed the knowledge imparted to them to a global society. The teacher’s job is a vital one. The teacher serves as a guide and facilitator for a child’s matriculation through their educational journey. The teacher holds the power to positively impact that child’s journey. Having experienced the journey before, the teacher through experiences and knowledge guides that child along the path that best suites them. I make it my goal to effectively guide all of my student’s paths, to enrich their lives, to secure our future. In order to create children as positive contributors to society, I believe that students’ learning is best accomplished in a family like atmosphere. I would like for my students to view the classroom as an extension of their family. In most situations, the family is the place where individuals feel most comfortable. As a result, the family is where the most learning takes place. Having a family structured learning environment can establish that comfortableness and familiarity. This in turn would make it easier for students to learn and want to learn. I have always sought to establish a classroom environment where the teacher is not viewed as an authoritative figure. Instead, my students were their own authoritative figures and disciplinarians. In my classroom, the teacher and students were all significant contributing members of the family. In my family environment I also ensure that every student knows that someone cares for him or her and loves him or her. I am a strong believer that the key to student success is showing students love and concern.
My students when I student taught. Love these guys and gals!
